One in Two Hundred (anyone else freaking out?)

random pictures are cool. admit it.
This contest. It's killing me.
I submitted my entry on Thursday night. And now we have to wait a couple weeks until the finalists are announced.
Two hundred people entered. I know some of the GTW writers are amazing, so I'm a little nervous. I didn't make it in the last contest, so I'm expecting the same for this one. But a girl can wish, can't she?
About twenty entries are going on to the second round, and then about five to the next. And then one.
One chance in two hundred.
I entered a new idea (picture-explanation). It's dystopian, which I've never tried before. But it's so much fun. Then again, when is a new story idea not?
Back to the point: I'M REALLY NERVOUS OVER HERE. And I shouldn't be. Because it's not like my life is depending on it. But you get feedback from a literary agent! That's freaking amazing!
So I guess I should just stop being nervous and leave it to the judges. If God wants me to win, I'll win. If He doesn't, I will be crushed, but I'll move on.
Now.
Does anyone have any suggestions for distractions? (Other than writing. I'm doing that already.)

  1. Blog it away. =) I'm so stinking nervous too.... *shivers* I can't believe they got 200 entries in under four days, actually, delete that last sentence. I believe every word of it.

    1. *Virtual hug* I know. Either Stephanie or Jill gave a warning to get entries ASAP, so I was like CRUD. This is going to be a long couple of weeks.

  2. I entered that contest as well! One in two hundred is pretty nerve-wracking, but good luck with your entry, I'm sure it's great. (:

  3. Oh, I get how you feel! I was away just long enough that when I came back, the contest was already closed, so I didn't get to enter. But I still get your nervousness. *shivers*
I've read the 100-word contest winning entries a while ago... Those writers are pretty amazing. But then, so are you! :)
And a dystopia... I love your board, some of the images even give me chills. And the title... Will you be posting an excerpt?
Anyway, best of luck! Those couple weeks will fly by... Reading always helps me when I'm stressed, along with strumming a couple chords on the guitar and going outside. Good music also helps me LOADS. Oh, and a cup of tea is nice, too! ;)

    1. Oooh. Oh well. And thank you! (:
Yes, I'll probably do an excerpt from that sometime in April.
Thanks for the tips! They all sound wonderful.

    1. Thanks, Priscilla! And I'll have to check that out! I actually might do it before the contest is over as a distraction. ;)
True, true. God is and always will be in control.

    1. I know. It didn't say "entry submitted" or anything like that, so I'm wondering the same thing. But my guess is it got in.

    1. Two hundred writers? Yeah. Considering only one wins, you could say that. 1,000 words? Yes, considering there are 200 entries that have to be read.

  7. As a person who has read some of your posted excerpts, I can truthfully say you have a phenomenal chance of making it all the way to the end.

Distractions? You can come over and clean my house, and you'll be so busy being appalled at the mess that the weeks will fly by before I unlock the door and allow you to go home. I mean...

    1. Thank you, Mrs. Dietz! :)
As for the cleaning of your house, I think my mom would want me to clean *our* house first. ;)
